What does decaffeinated coffee have to do with art? And why did the redevelopment of a medieval craftsmen's street in the 1920s cause a sensation almost worldwide? And then there was the Germanic cult in the middle of Bremen... On this guided tour you will discover the unique work of art "Böttcherstrasse" in detail.

In the Middle Ages, when the craftsmen were busy in the small street between today's market place and the Weser, no one had any idea that one of the most peculiar streets in the world would one day be built there. After Ludwig Roselius, a coffee merchant from Bremen, introduced the world's first decaffeinated coffee to the market in 1906, he became one of the richest men in Germany. The profits he made from his coffee enabled him to buy an entire street in Bremen's Old town and have the "Böttcherstrasse" built there from 1922 to 1931 - a total work of art made of brick. But what is the story behind the facades? And what did the golden relief at the entrance to Böttcherstrasse have to do with National Socialism? Embark on an exciting journey through Bremen's "secret main street".
